Question Has anyone removed/changed a cowl before?

I'm removing rust and replacing sheetmetal on my'66. I've got to replace a lower door pillar brace, both floor pans and cab corners.

I cut a swiss cheesed section of the cowling out on the passenger side above the fender. The sight inside of the cowl lookes pretty bad, as do the vent drains. My thoughts are to remove the cowling, remove the rust behind it and epoxy it before I reinstall it.

Has anybody on the forum ever removed or replaced the cowling on one of these trucks?

Any thoughts?

I thought I'd have been counseled by now for such a thought.

No bites?

Here is an entire floor pan replacement.

What it looked like with floor removed.

Here is the bottom 12 inches of a slick crew i replaced.

All the inner sheet metal was replaced layer by layer. It can be done bt need some thinking on how to remove and replace the metal in stages.

Thanks for boosting my confidence Garbz. Great pics. I've got to locate all of the associated spot welds and figure out some way to support the cab roof.

I also have a junk cab (wrecked) that I may practice on first. I need to remove the firewall from it anyway. Its one of the few things not creased in some form or fashion.
