I have a 1990 f250, 4x4, MT, 4.9L that will not start. It started yesterday and then stalled and will not re-start. I put a code reader on it and got a code 18. According to my book a code 18 is:
Continues codes: Loss of tachometer input/ IDM circuit failure/ SPOUT circuit grounded.
Running: SPOUT circuit open or Spark Angle Word (SAW) circuit failure.
Obviously the running code is not what I am worried about although I am not familiar with the lingo of SAW.
I am wondering what I should be looking at replaceing in regards to the code 18. Would I need a new Coil, Ignition Module or PIck-up coil or something else.
Any help would be apreciated,
Thanks again
