Truck Shut Off

Guys,

Had my new (to me) 2000 F250, Powerstroke for about 1 1/2 months now with no issues. Love the truck. Current mileage is about 203k. Was on the way to work this morning in some stop and go traffic, and the truck just shut off on me. Stopped, put it in park, and it fired right back up. Had no other issues or weird behaviour after that. As for when it shut off, I had been lightly accelerating, then taken my foot off the accelerator, and just as I began to apply the brakes is when it shut off. I'm a little new to diesels, but the behaviour/conditions in which is shut off in my experience with gasoline engines is if something went wrong with the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve for a second. Be it just a momentary hiccup, or it stuck and didn't open, causing the engine to die.

Thoughts?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You don't have an IAC on your PSD. It's probably the CMP. (camshaft position sensor)

Did you mean the CPS (cam position sensor)?

That's what I said. Ford calls it a CMP sensor and International calls it a CAMP sensor. Nobody except people on the forums calls it a CPS.

Gotcha. CPS is what I have always heard it reffered to as. Even on other vehicles. Either way, I just ordered one.

Right, but at the dealer CPS will probably get you a crankshaft position sensor.

Where did you order it? The International dealer is normally quite a bit cheaper than the Ford dealer on this, and most other common engine parts.
