69 f 100 lighting problem

i bought a 69 basket case ... i have both head and parking lights but when i turn on my head lights i loose the front parking lights ????? any help is greatfull thanks to all who reply thats what makes this such a great site

Sounds like poor grounding to me, at one or the other (or both).

Thats how they worked, no car or truck had them both on at the same time back then.
