ok guys.. i joined up a few months ago.. been reading a lot on the 6.0 forum.. i'm really interested in getting a 6.0 PSD.. i currently drive a 98 chevy 1/2 ton EC SB gasser... its left me stranded 3 times in the last 2 months.. left me stranded just last night acutally.. i've been meaning to get rid of it.. 104K on it.. used it for towing, plowing, hauling gravel and the alike.. and its taking it fair share of work.. but i need to go bigger.. i have a few buddies that have 7.3's.. they love them.. as do i.. have a few buddies w/ 05 6.0's.. they love them.. as do i.. i wanna get a new one... but i'm not sure if i want to get a nice used 04 w/ the leaf springs up front.. or get the used 05 w/ the coil overs and the nice interior that i like.. i'm lookin @ getting a CC SB lariat 6.0... but i want to find just what i want.. i need to get rid of my truck.. pay off the loan(less than what the truck is worth) but my truck is my DD.. i can drive my mom truck for a lil while in the down time.. but i need it quick.. i'm tired of dropping money into the chevy and i wanna get a new one like no ones bussiness.. should i get a nice used 04 w/ low miles, should i wait and get a used 05 in the spring... or try to get a used 06 fall.. dont want 03.. dont want 07 6.4.. and done want a 7.3.. i can only afford about 35k not much more than that.. after that.. the monthly payment is a lil to much.. sry for th long post.. but i just need some feedback. thx
well depending on what trim level you want you may be able to get a new one for 35k. i have seen a cc sb white 4x4 manual hubs and t case for 34,299 with this employee pricing.
If you cant wait another year for the 2007, then just get a new 05/06 while the discounts are good. You can get everything you want for $34k (always ignore MSRP).
well.. i think thats why i'm probably gonna need to find a nice used 04.. cuz i want all the accessories.. i dont want to skip anything when it comes to buying this new truck..

are they doin family pricing on the 06's.. and its hard to tell what they have left in 05's.. at least around here in the DC area.. i'm in northern VA.. so there are lots of ford dealers.. anyone know how much longer the family pricing will last?
no the 06 is not included. are you looking for work truck? the trucks around here with the v-10 are about 5,500.00 cheaper. and they are always pretty well loaded with options.
dont want gas.. want a diesel.. want the power and the torque
doin a lil research.. if i can still find a truck.. 05 cc lariat is 29,800.. thats prob for a 5.4 gasser... so i'm thinkin somewhere like 33/34k.. thats right in my ball park.. i'm only 21.. so my mom is gonna go w/ me to the ford dealer and co-sign w/ me on a loan.. i'll let you guy know what happeneds..
Thanks for all the replies guys.. it really helps..
I am completely satisfied with my '04 and leaf springs. If you can afford the new then I would go with that option unless the used is significantly less, but usually Superduty diesels are not cheap if buying used. Good luck and welcome to FTE.
thx for all the help guys.. gonna go out car shopping tomorrow at a few dealers around here... i was lookin on fords website.. and i was searchin thru the inventory that they are offering w/ the family pricing.. and the 06 SD's were in there.. i've heard they are included in family pricing and not included.. which is it?
Go with the 2005...if a dealer really wants your business, he'll find one for you. The coil springs make the turning radius a lot tighter, and if you get the crew cab, you'll need all the turning radius help you can get! Trust me!
Don't mean to butt in on something that I am not sure of, but had a quick thought. You stated that you used your gasser chevy to plow. I bought an '04 PSD Excursion, and was surprised to find out that I couldn't mount a plow due to the weight of the diesel and the front GVW rating. If you plan to plow with your new truck, you might want to verify that a plow can be mounted with the CC and PSD. Good Luck!
There are factory snow plow options for both the F250 and the F350 trucks. Not the Excursion. (Not that you couldn't mount one with a front spring pack change. I can't imagine that adding 350 lbs to the front of an Ex could overload the front axles. But I'd have to research to be sure. Depends on the size of the blade too.)
It's a good idea to get the snow plow options, heavier springs, high output alternator and such if you're going to be mounting and using a winch too.
