Don't mean to butt in on something that I am not sure of, but had a quick thought. You stated that you used your gasser chevy to plow. I bought an '04 PSD Excursion, and was surprised to find out that I couldn't mount a plow due to the weight of the diesel and the front GVW rating. If you plan to plow with your new truck, you might want to verify that a plow can be mounted with the CC and PSD. Good Luck!
thanks for bringing that up.. but i dont plan on using my new one to plow.. i have another chevy 1/2 ton.. its a 2000 that i plan on using.. but thats a good point that i never would have thought of..
[QUOTE=jackofalltrades]There are factory snow plow options for both the F250 and the F350 trucks. Not the Excursion. (Not that you couldn't mount one with a front spring pack change. I can't imagine that adding 350 lbs to the front of an Ex could overload the front axles. But I'd have to research to be sure. Depends on the size of the blade too.)
I beleive that you can get the factory snow plow option on the Excursion as well, but only on the gassers. From what I have heard, because of the people hauling capabilities of the Ex, the weight of the diesel, plow and people would exceed the front axles' GVWR. I would beleive the same could/should be true for a diesel Crew Cab with the possibility of six passengers. Not really an issue now tha p8ntball2 does not plan to plow with the superduty.
I wish I could mount a plow on my Ex, but have been told that upgrading the springs to accommodate the plow does not increase the legal capacity of the front axle. Did not mean to hi-jack this thread on a different topic.
Warmest regards:
Rick
