Stay with the CF rating on the oil and forget that SM stuff, the CF,CM rated oil is all the protection you will ever need, it comes in all weights, dino and synthetic, I think the new Mobil even has the CF rating. There's my 2 cents worth.
ford390gashog, Try to remember that the original 5w-20 speced oils were 153-H. Then came the 929 speced oils which are the 5w-30 oils. Then came the new specs for the 5w-20's which is the 930 spec. I know it appears backward but that's how it came around. The lighter oil has the bigger spec number.

I have enough 10W-40 motorcraft SL for one more oil change, and I'll be switching to 15W-40 Motorcraft Diesel Motor Oil. It's the same price, and I can still buy it in bulk as well.
It will be a little thicker at startup, but a small price to pay, if it keeps your engine safe.
Trying to revive this post. Does anyone use Mobil 1 synthetic for their 300? I saw a special truck formula for both gas and diesel which was 15w40 I think. It doesn't say 15w40 on the front of the bottle like regular oil does. It says "truck formula" or something like that. Anything I should know about this Mobil formula?
