B-Pillar on Bronco

I am looking at mounting some speakers in the B-pillar on my Bronco. Is there anything inside the pillar behind where the seatbelt strap is located that I might cut into by accident?

No I don't believe so but dont you have the openings for speakers there or are just trying to open the hole up a little to put in larger speakers?

There is currently no opening on my B-pillar for speakers. There is one in the door and one next to the rear seat behind the B-pillar. I wanted to mount some up on the B-pillar between the windows so I could hear it without blasting the radio when the windows are open, because the loud tires drown out the radio and sound deadening in my Bronco is not so great.

a couple of things to think about.... depending on how high you mount the speaker you may not have enough depth (to the outside skin) for the magnet. Also just as a safety note dont cut to close to the top seat belt mount because you will weaken that point. Hate to see you pull the top belt stud out of the b pillar in an accident.

Why not try some really good replacement speakers with plenty of power? My '95 Bronco has a killer system with Polk's in the factory rear. The mounts tilt nicely forward, engineered sort of thing... The key is good clean power. Good power will overcome outside noises. (And I am not talking about rap cannons either..)
Of course, this IMO.

jesta302,

I agree that a good sound system overcomes most of the outside noise problems, except for one problem in my case: cost. I have some speakers already and am broke. So decision is to hear the music (or talk radio) or not hear it.

Thanks

10-4, then OK back to my hillbilly roots....
Just brainstorming here, but I've done a LOT of stereo set-ups. JB WELD that rascal to your post. You decide the bracket set-up/box based on what your shop has laying around, then rock & roll. I agree to not drill it at all. JB WELD is one of those products that actually does what it says. You can do a neat job, then sand off to desired look, and paint it to match. Just tossing around some ideas. You could even build a "base" to work off of, then mount to that.
