I want to do some alignment on my '73. I haven't worked with the twin I beams before, and it looks as if the only adjustment is toe!! I must be wrong about this, so can somebody fill me in?? Thanks, Polkat
Hey Polkat, you'll have to take it to an alignment shop that has the ability to bend the I-beams to set the caster. Probably a truck shop. I hav'nt had to have my caster set in over 20 years though. Ford Tough.

Polkat is right; all you have to "adjust" is toe. The caster / camber is done by bending the I-beams if really needed; here in Metro Atlanta there are only a few people left who do this kind of thing.
About 6 years ago my '73 was wearing the inside of the tires and the tires appeared to be tipped in at the tops. I assumed it needed an alignment - turned out it was weak coil springs. The twin Ibeam design must have the correct spring height, or the alignment is off. Once I replaced my weak springs with stock replacements, everything was correct. Might be what's going on with yours too...
Just for clarification: The toe is adjusted in the normal manner by turning a sleave on the tie rod. Camber is adjusted by bending the "I" beam and castor is not "normally" adjustable.
Ah yessss... the odor of Castor the Bean oil is what made them Motorcycle races smell so exciting.
I had to have my 73 aligned in 75?? but the alignment didn't stop the pulling. It was a bad spring. I replaced both, did the rear wheel bearing adjustments again and had a brand new truck once more.

Now, let me see if I have this straight. If I wanna align my truck, I have to drink castor oil while sitting on a chair with casters, perhaps on my boat while cast'ing for camberhead bass with a chair and... hummm...that old Mopar is starting to look good again! Polkat
