I was just curious if anyone has installed aftermarket clearance lights on a 95 F-350 that they were not stock on? I have heard the wires are there just the lights need installing.
I added mine and there were not any wires there. There is a connector by the pass. side kick panel that the stock lights plug into though. You would need a wire from the light to it though.
I installed my lights in about an hour after geeting up the nerve to drill holes, which took months.
It is very easy and mine were the stock ones, so I had a friends truck to go off of for a pattern.
Measure, mark and remeasure before centerpunching and drilling.
i put super duty clearance lights on my 95 looks great and like others have said most of the time was getting the nerve to drill. it took me more than an hour but i had to pull the head liner to secure the superduty lights since they use a stud witha nut on the inside, but man do they look so much better than the stock lights.
I added lights on mine, but there were no wires in the headliner. After working up enough courage to drill the first hole, second, third, and so on came easier. I just ran a wire down to the headlight switch to get power.
i found the clear led cab lights for a dodge so it will work if you dont already have them i have been meaning to order but keep forgettting thanks for reminding me i will find the link tommorow.
do you know where i could find the amber over cab lenses for a 2000? Did they every prewire on any year that you know of? I like the old school look for some reason ? my truck is blue/green so I dont know how the clear, smoke or super white would look because i want the running boards with the amber lights built in also.

You can get the lights at the dealer for about six bucks each. The factory wiring harness will run a little under $30.
I've been thinking about adding clearance lights to my truck too. Like jricherson said, I read somewhere else that there is a connector around the passenger kick panel for stock lights to plug into. I've also read that you need to pull the headliner to do the install and that for a regular cab you can take it all the way out, but for extended or crew cabs you'll damage it if you try that, so just drop it enough to get to where you need to. ClearCabLights.com aka Recon, an advertiser at the top of this web site, carries non-amber lens covers. I'm still working up enough courage to pull the liner and drill the cab.
The reg cabs have a two layer roof, and even if you pull the head liner, you still wont be able to get at the lights, or harness.
The ext. cabs have a one layer roof, with a lil "shelf" where the visors bolt to, so you can pull all the trim pieces off, pull it down a lil ways and you will be able to get at the bottom of the cab lights, and the harness.
I just used a straightened coat hanger, and pull the harness through one of the hole when I install them.
tjbeggs your right those superduty lights do look better than the original style lights. I was looking at my dad's 2002 sd the other day and was thinking they would look good up there on my 96 your pic's confirmed that thanks.
