alright, that's what I was thinkin'!, now if I just went w/ a thinner head gasket, would it be possible to get a 9.5-10 compression ratio?

360 to 390

Led, yeah, a thinner head gasket will help. The Fel-pro replacement gaskets most of us use are .041 thick when compressed. The factory steel shim gaskets are only .017. But you will have to search awhile to find some. I think Dennis and Rob both have some. If you use a 390 car style piston with a 390 crank and rods, you should get close to the 9.5 or 10 you are looking for. DF
