All the 250's on the lots have the split bench. Does anyone have buckets and how do you like them ? From the pic on Ford's site it looks like the armrest might not come out far enough to be comfortable.
How are you guys w/the split bench finding the comfort over the long haul ?
I have trucks with both. I like the so called split bench best because the arm rest area is more comfortable in my opinion. The seats are pretty much the same as the captains chairs but without the armrest attached, passenger and driver seats are independent of each other with the center section in between bolted in. If you like a lot of stuff stored up front though, a console is better.
My '01 has the split-bench, I love it. The center-console storage area makes a great arm rest, and has cup holders And the storage is priceless...
I also like that I can sit my two kids in the front seat with me when needed (I turn off the passenger-side air bag).
I have a Supercab (extended cab) so the back seat is a little small for "normal" people, so on the off-times I have two other adults in the truck, it's nice to put them in the center of the front seat.
The arm rest on the Captain's chairs is too low & small for comfort unless you are about 5'2"! I really like my split seats. The center section makes a great comfortable arm rest & easy reachable cup holder.
i searched and searched for a truck equipped the way i wanted it with the captains chairs (my bronco had them) and could not find one so i ended up with the split bench...thank god, it is much more comfortible
This has me thinking too... I'm in the market and was dead set on captain's chairs, but not so sure now. I'm still going to give them a good look at though cause on my 03 I have the bench now and it annoys the heck out of me... the armrest part is fine, but if it's down, ANYTHING you set in the seat is absolutely GONE into the back floorboard. When you put the armrest down it leaves a clear hole under it and the seat is angled so it slides right out into the back. Also if you have your stuff in the console (which is quite roomy) and decide you need someone to sit up front in the middle... raise it up and everything in the console is tossed salad. I guess there's good and bad to both but I'm giving the cap'ns a close look before I buy.

Good point JD, I too have had incidents with that "black hole" ...
My next truck will have captains, I currently have split bench. I agree the arm rest on the split bench is bigger and maybe more comfortable, but the seats on a supercab split bench with seatbelts in seat suck. Split bench seat in a CC or reg cab without the integrated seatbelt are much more comfortable. The nice thing about the captains is I can keep my rifle in the space between the seat and console.
I like the split bench on my PSD but stuff does get lost into the back through that 'black hole'.
ColM4, I understand the 'rifle issue' as well. When I'm out hunting, a rifle or shotgun fit nicely in that gap between the seat and console on either side of my Bronco.

They're different between an SC and regular/CC? That's weird...

My 05 has a piece of hard plastic at the end so that nothing slides into the back. Wonder when they started doing that?
Having had both (captains & bench) I really prefer the bench. It makes the truck more versitile, IMHO.
