Hello all! Does anyone know of any good software that can turn a pc into a an
diagnostic/ anylyzer? I don't want obdII, I already have one, but something that can give more information than the obd's.
The only thing I can think of is an Autotap, but that just gives you all the OBD-II stuff. However, it can put up MANY parameters at the same time on the same screen, graph stuff, etc.
I thought so too when someone else on here said they had it and had recommended it. Gotta love FTE! My only problem with it is the cable is a serial based cable. Who uses serial outputs anymore? My Toshiba Qosmio laptop (less than a year old) has more USB ports than I have USB products, and guess what, no serial ports! I could get an adapter for it but I thought I'd just nitpick at it. Anyways, that one does just about everything. I also noticed that the new Hypertech Hyperpac has a lot of unique features on it as well. Lots of info on that at Jeg's website:

The reason for the serial port is that the thing runs on all sorts of OLD laptops, it doesn't take a lot of CPU horsepower to use. But, I know where you're coming from
Matt and Art - I checked that site out and they do have the USB connections available. Click on the order online link and it will give you all the products and the different configurations. That might make your Christmas more difficult for you Matt as I know you were looking at that Hyperpac. Maybe you just need to get both!!
I use the AutoEnginuity software and I couldn't be more happy with it!! If you order the unit with the CAN card installed it will do any vehicle from 95 up (some older). I had to get the enhanced Ford version to work on the Superduty as it is not OBDII complient being a heavy duty truck class. You can actually buy it from the company directly using ebay at a discount price.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Autotap does not support CAN as far as I know. I checked with them a month ago and they told me it would be out soon, but they also told me that about 8 months ago.
