Sorry for not doing a search, but I dont get much internet time.
I'd like to get another truck when I get home. I'd like to find out what years had solid front axles, what years were highboys, and what years/trim level had the tool boxes built in near the rear wheel well. Idealy I'd like a truck with all 3.
Thanks a lot yall.
Assuming you're talking about 4X4s, All 73-79's had solid front axles. I think highboys were 73-77 but am not sure on that one. All 73-79's had tool boxes available. I don't think it came standard with any particular trim option. IE a '76 Ranger XLT (top o line) did not automatically have a toolbox but it was available.
Highboy is a term applied to the F250 four wheel drive trucks because they are about 2 inches taller than an F100 or F150. Ford never used the term. For Any truck to be considered a highboy it'll have to be an F250.
