Engine Swap for a 2001 supercrew
Hello All,
I want to swap out my 4.6 for either a supercharged Harley 5.4 or a supercharged Lightning engine. I'd even be willing to look at building an engine as I have for my mustang. Maybe to the tune of a S-trim? I just want something dependable. I have been told the Lightning motor is a bit more pricey than the Harley motor and that it would be cheaper to just get the Harley with some more bolt-ons. When I do the swap, I'm planning on getting the matching trans with whichever engine I get. I have about 6 months before I do the swap and would like to continue adding parts to the truck that will work with either engine. Do you have any suggestions on which engine to put in it? Or what parts I can get in the mean time? Just some FYI on the truck; she is a 2001 Supercrew with a 4.6 in it currently with 112,000 miles. It only has a K&N but has been serviced regularly and was owned by an older lady who only had highway miles on it until I got it at 86,000 miles. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

a few things your going to need or the engine ,trans,and pos. the fuel systems wiring harness.the pcm that matches the engine and trans combo.and pos. a fuel pump assy. for the supercharged engine.

Sounds good, do you think these two engines are the best choices, or is there another enging worth looking at. Also, the rockauto sponsor for this site says it's selling lightning engines for just over $4,000.00. Does that sound about right? I'm thinking that sounds a little under priced.

It says that is a remanufactured engine, but has a 3 year unlimited mile warranty. Check it out if you'd like at rockauto.com. It says it comes with the super charger and all. Too good to be true maybe??

Make sure you put the vehicle in as a 2001 f150 though. You'll find it under the lightning tab and longblock.
