Help needed on Chevy transmission
Regardless, for any of you gearheads who may be able to help, here's the issue.
This guy buys a beater 1990 C1500 with a 350 and a 5 spd manual. The tranny is stuck in third gear, so, having a fair amount of "shade tree" mechanic experience, he pulls the tranny, and attempts to take it apart. He says the case is long and "looks like an automatic" because there are not any side or top plates, just the access on top for the shifter. The trans is split longitudinally, and, after removing all visible bolts, he can't get the case apart. He says he can get the halves to separate around a half an inch, but then something interferes with complete disassembly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

These are all pretty good forums. I know the first one has a couple of GM techs that post on a fairly regular basis. None of them though have quite as much traffic as this site, so be patient, but there are great people at these sites, just like this one and they will be able to help you solve your problem
Good Luck and keep us posted!
