According to a very trusted 6.0 Tech, a new flash was released last week. He said that it cures a lot of "running issues" and really brought alive an 04 that ran like a complete dog previously. Granted, we have heard this before- (I have no reason to get it as my 6.0 runs great: I was at the dealer getting the 60,000 mile tranny flush & filter)
I'm sure there are many folks that would like to hear any first hand experience with this latest flash?
The good, the bad and/or the ugly...
They put this one in last week, it took care of my black smoke and no power issue. I now have a surging issue, but it probably another sensor (ICP, EBP). The new flash was the first improvement in weeks of trying. I will go in Monday to fix the surging issue.
What are the "running issues"? I am sure if you get this flash,
your t/h will be neutered. If your truck runs good, leave the
flash at the EDIT.dealership.

I think I may have the flash, I just got my truck back from the dealer with the new transmission and it sounds different at idle than before and the Tow/Haul EDITED

The tow/haul wouldn't be an issue with the new tranny would it? BTW what prompted the new tranny and was it warrantied?

Just reflashed mine yesterday as well. Supposed to fix the low speed\hard acceleration shudder in the driveline. I'll give them one more chance and then I'm going to start looking for another dealer.
I'm not sure what kind of an idiot thinks a reflash is going to fix a driveline problem.
BTW, it didn't fix the problem, but I haven't noticed anyother differences yet.
I notice a shutter, like I ran over something, after this new flash. I called Ford because I was worried that the transmission was eating itself, maybe it tried to go into 2 gears at the same time or something. The first time I had this shutter, (hard accell getting on to interstate) I looked around to see if I hit something, nothing but new smooth pavement. Whatever it is it can't be good. I made sure that they documented it because I suspect future problems. It is still surging and Monday they will look at that. The Rep and an Engineer are involved. BTW my mileage is actually better and it has great power.
I'm not sure what the latest reflash was a month ago, but they loaded my '04 with it when I had it in for the recalls and some sensor issues. It seems that my mileage jumped 3-4 mpg city and highway (hand calculated). I'm very happy with this, anyone else ever see this.

I even suggest that you wait until some major issues developes, before considering a re-flash/upgrade. As you said: " My '04 runs great "
I wouldn't have taken mine in for the flash or recall as it had ran great from about 1,000 miles up until near 18,000 miles. Then it started dying and stuttering on me and I was forced to take it in a month ago as I said. No problems since, I'll keep my fingers crossed...
