I had the harness recall done earlier this week which included the latest flash according to the service writer. My truck runs great now but it is definetly loud now. As an extra it actually feels like the moan/drone I have complained to them about since new has been fixed with whatever they did!
I haven't check the mileage yet but the tech said not the expect anything better than 14-16 mpg I get now.
I took my 04 F250 in for the FMR Recall and commented to the service writer that I was experiencing sluggish performance .. sometimes. They reflashed the truck and it's like a new truck....
The Turbo seems to spin up faster and the power comes on hard, also seems that the shifts are much more positive on W.O.T. Previously the engine would reve between 2700 and 3400 RPM now from a stand still the RPM is between 3000 and 3450 +/- until 3rd gear and then it drops to around 2900.
Wish I had something other than seat of the pants results but it is MUCH MUCH more fun to drive..... fuel economy may be another issue since my foot seems to have a mind of it's own ...
The VERY latest flash (for certain 2004 vehicles) released on August 11th addresses false codes P0488 & P1334. A recent calibration update was changed concerning the EGR Throttle Plate and the tolerances were too tight causing the false codes and in some cases the check engine light will illuminate. I am not sure this was the official reason for the recall 05E15 being suspended but I have a gut feeling it was...
B.T.W. Emissions Recall 05E15 was reinstated on 8/18, 2005 Go git em boys!
I am a bit leary of the re-flashes as I had a shuttering problem about 6-8 months ago . They reflashed my computer and I lost 4.9 mpg highway and nearly the same city . "EDIT BY MODERATOR" The darn engineers should be able to address that too. Darn diesel is too high for a low grade by-product. ANYONE know of a good chip to help the fuel mileage?

I just drove an 04 with the latest flash which a friend is considering buying...The performance was impressive and generally about the same as my 03 except the 04 (with new flash) definately had less turbo lag- A 6.0 certified tech recently told me the single most noticeable feature of this flash was a quicker turbo response. This truck was re-flashed earlier today (sticker on hood) and immediately responded to my right foot
BTW I told my friend to buy the truck: 04 XLT 6.0 CC- Great truck

I'm picking my truck up today for the emissions light problem. According to the dealer, it had the P0488 code and was reflashed. We'll see how it goes, it should be interesting. Unfortunately, they couldn't anything that caused my turbo hiccup problem (as discussed in an other thread) and want to put a recorder on for my next towing trip. Any comments or suggestions on this?

Do you guys know if there is a reflash for the 05 that addresses turbo lag? Lag is the only complaint I have with mine. It's so bad it scares me sometimes.
Are the reflash stickers a Federal mandate that is required when a change is made to the PCM??
Not that I am aware of- Although it sure comes in handy when looking at a truck to see exactly when it was re-flashed.
99FordGuy, Hopefully someone like Ford_Doctor can answer your question...
Mr. Sandman, Please report back your impression of the latest flash- From what I have been told (by reliable sources) Ford recommends re-flashing first whenever there is a driveability problem and then if the problem persists they are certain the problem is not related to a previous flash. This sounds reasonable if the Tech is able to determine whether or not the problem is solved after the re-flash.
The Good News: If every 6.0 responds to the newest flash like the truck I drove yesterday... There will be a lot of folks wearing the 6.0 Grin
A flash is the re-programming of the truck's computer with the latest calibrations from Ford. Since the release of the 6.0 in Model Year 03 there have been about 7 or 8 different flashes (that I am aware of). Some of the first few were not popular with 6.0 owners for a variety of reasons...
Got mine reflashed last week under the 05E15. It definitely runs better, quicker spool-up, louder at idle :-), and runs very well under full throttle. SOTP says it is making more power, and so does the light smoke it puts out now. I didn't have any problems before, but this re-flash was definitely an upgrade. Fuel economy seems better, but no real #'s yet.
