I have $800 to spend on my truck. Its a 2000 F250 V10 4x4 auto super cab. Right now I have 16x10 Eagle alloys with 305/70/16 BFG muds. I have a Flow Master 40 on it with stock pipes.
Some of the things I have been thinking about doing are switching from the FM40 to an AeroTurbine muffler. Exhaustsoundclips has a clip of a V10 with one of these and it sounds awsome. I was also thinking about a new "y" pipe. Bobs Muflers in Bakersfield can make me a new mandrel bent "y" for a pretty good price.
Other things I have been thinking about are maybe a front end leveling kit, Rough Country makes one for $269. It is replacement front springs (not add-a-leafs) and shocks. I really want a 6" lift but don't think I will ever be able to afford one.
Has anyone had head rest monitors installed in their truck. I was thinking about this for the kids on long road trips like the one we took to Colorado this summer. We are planning another trip for Dec. back to Co.
If I had that kinda money to burn I would get a heavy duty back bumper. (stock chrome one is so flimsy I can flex it with my hands) and a good tool box. I already have a grill guard and cab steps. The leveling kit is a good idea though. Very tempting.
Makes the leaf spring trucks look good.
3. Go to Wal-Mart and get one of those dual screen in-car DVD players.
I had a permenant mount 14" screen in my Expy and found that the Wal-Mart DVD system got more use simply because I could take it out and plug it in to the house or hotel etc. etc. Plus, I could use it in any other vehicles.
If you got money left over then swap mufflers. Those Aero's aren't too cheap whereas the other mods would fit nicely in your allotted amount. You may even have enough left over to fill it a few times!
I would put a good alarm system with starter disable and remote start
I like this truck too much to have it stolen and I park it outside because it won't fit in my Garage. I need to idle it in winter to defrost the windows. Now I leave a Club steering wheel lock on it while it is idling unattended but they say thieves can cut your steering wheel in seconds and drive away. With remote start the truck idles without a key and you can not get it in gear without the motor quitting.
For $800 and the pic of you stuck on the sand dune, I would get an LSD or locker for the front of your ride, if you already have one in the back. To me that would be money better spent. A Detroit TruTrac would be good for your setup.

LOL, good point. I was high centered though. A locker wouldnt have helped.
So far I like everyone ideas. I think a "y" will be the first order. I think I will skip the leveling kit because I really want a 6" lift, and my wife says I can get one with part of our tax refund this coming year.
I think a portable dvd player would be better. I spend alot of time sitting at race tracks doing medical stand bys, this way I have some entertainment.
Any other ideas? I had a Hypertech programmer and didn't like it. Is Super Chips any better?
i would get a good alarm, put whats left in a bank or draw and add 5 or 10 bucks a week to it and when there is enough do the less costly easy stuff . do the heavy costs when i could.
sct custom chip here ken the web master did up a excal2 for me . at least that can be retuned if you don't like how it runs .

What would you do to your truck with $800?
A; don't buy the aero turbine, I don't think you'll like it. The sound clip sounds cool, except to me because I know better. I have the same sound.
B; spend money on gears, your 305 tires are killing your performance.
C; I have 2 TV's in my rig, 1 flip down and one headrest that I installed in the passenger visor. I pay around $70-$90 for them, the DVD players are $50. Or better yet I wired mine so I can plug in a DVD player, A VCR, or most bestes, an X-Box/PS2. They'll play games and movies and have 4 controllers. The visor TV just has a cheap DVD player hooked to it, my wife doesn't play much Doom.
