Howdy! I just had my rear axle rebuilt. I decided to get a Ford trac-lock from Jeff's BG. My mechanic said that when he looked it up, the ford manual said to use regular gear oil, no friction modifier. He thought it was a little funny. Is this right? I could use an answer ASAP. I have to pick it up in a couple hours.
Thanks for the help! I'll have to get him to drain it and add ther friction midifier on Sat. I don't have much choice but to drive it till then. Will I be OK? I hate to think of the $$$ I just spent going to heck! I'll probably only put on a couple hundred miles till then. Thanks again everybody!
Well I'll get this taken care of soon. It's real nice driving around w/o all the slop. I kept blaming the slip joint. The spider gears were shot so I went with the trac loc. When the snow hits I'll be glad I did. Again, thanks for all the help. I sometimes post in a panic and forget to thank everybody. This is a great community.
