Question stupid question

hey guys...picked up a 94 bronco and for the life of me - or the dealers - cant figure out how to open the rear tailgate the handle on the inside feels as if its connected but pulling up nothing happens..the keyway on the outside of the tailgate brings the window up and down ok but does nothing for opening it up...is there a switch - button - something im missing or would it just be broken...thanks in advance

There should be a safety rod insaide the tailgate and the window pushes it when it goes all of the way down, the rod could of come loose or there could be something wrong with the latches. You can get a look at if you open the access panel on the inside of the tailgate.

Window must be all the way down then-When you remove the access panel there will be two rods connected to the handle mechanism pull the towards the center of tailgate and it will open. I do this on a daily basis as my hande was snapped off by my Hilift.-Bob

exactally what slickerthanyou said. The rods might of come off the inside of the latch some how. It should be easy to do once you get the panel off.

The switch is in the upper left hand side of the tail gate. You can just disconnect it and run a jumper over the two leads to make it think the tail gate is closed all the time.....I have done it before....you just HAVE to remember that you CAN NOT press the dash button with the TG down...and you CAN NOT close the TG with the glass in the up position.
