Help 03 Expedition

Sometimes (not always) when starting there is a terrible loud noise from the engine or from the rear end. Its almost like something you would expect to hear when putting in gear. But this happens right after iginition!
Any body experince this.
Also any other problems with 03 expeditions, i'm all ears.
Thanks

They all (most 03's make that noise)...Is the A'C on when you start the car? Some think its the compressor.

It is your AC compressor making the noise. Mine does it too.

Me too! AC kinda jolts after start up if it was left on at last engine shut down.

Blown spark plug is only other problem so far.

I'm a ASE Master tech. My Expedition does this as well. It is the compressor clutch engaging. Only seems to happen on cold start.

Thumbs up A/C Compressor "Clunk"

Thanks for the information on the AC Compessor. That makes sense! Is this a omen for a looming disaster waiting to happen? Is there any related TSB's for this? Any related A/C Compressor recalls?
Thanks again for the info!
