I had to change my heater core yesterday. I figure that since I have the glove box out and half the dash apart it would be a good time to fix a couple of other rattles in the dash. My dash wire assembly is loose and just hanging there. To tighten I think I need to take the dash pad off. In reading the shop manual they say to use a HOOK TOOL to remove the wiper **** and heater control *****. I do not have this tool. Can some one tell me another way of removing the Light, wiper, heater and radio ***** so I can remove the bezel and dash.
Thanks
Jim
By the way, I used the step by step heater core removal directions posted by 1975FORD, They were better than the manual. Even a novice like myself could follow them. And yes the job is complete except for tightening up some other stuff. Thanks 1975FORD
My light switch **** is held on by a small allen screw. Loosen the screw and the **** should come right off. The wiper **** has a small slot on the side that when depressed back (toward the rear of the truck) will then release. I use a small flat head. Very small. This same technique will also work or the control *****. My radio ***** do not require any tool and pull straight back off. Good luck. When reinstalling the dash trim, there is a small tab on the trim that sits in a slot above the steering column, make sure it is seated properly before fastening the dash. 77hb

That is not factory. The factory switch has the **** and shaft as one unit. You must press a button on top of the headlight switch to release the shaft. Check out post 15 in the FAQ thread at the top of the page (lots of other good reading there too).

The light switch **** is removed by pushing a little spring loaded button on the switch itself, push it in and pull the shaft out. The wiper switch has that metal tang on it, you can make the "hook "tool out of a paper clip, just lightly lift the tang, and pull off. The radio and heater ***** just pull off. The heater control ***** are fairly tight, but they do just pull off. once you have the inst cluster out and away, put the headlight shaft back in, this will turn off your lights.
Thanks to all who posted. The wire clip worked great. I was able to repair the upper wire harness and I am in the process of putting it all back together. Mil1ion, sorry for the redundant question. I knew this had been covered before, I just couldent find it, I must of used the wrong search criteria.
Thanks
