SeaFoam Test
Pulled up whole can of liquid thru tube into brake booster vacuum hose at idle into a hot engine just off the freeway 70 mph commute. Instructions say 1/2 can but we all know they can't be right. Let set for 1 1/2 hours and soak into valves and ring packs.
Started right up with no problems but the smoke is beyond belief, neigbors dog ran and hid, neighbors kids ran and shut doors and windows, no more mosquitos for miles- looked and smelled like like Agent Orange spraying on a hot day in the DMZ. may have killed the next door neighbors maple tree. Don't want to have any windows open when backing up with SeaFoam cooking off.
Took the girl out to the freeway a mile away, noticed cars were hanging back, the odor was attrocious, bad enough to puke a dog off a gut wagon.
Hit the freeway and ran her up to 70 mph+. Somewhat loss of power from normal and had the dreaded "CHECK ENGINE" light.
drove 20 miles round trip on freeway and back home, most of the smoke was gone in the first 10 miles.
"Check Engine" was still on when I got home. did not read codes, scared to, disconnected neg. batt. lead, left off for 10 minutes and cleared. started and ran fine.
Light out.
could not tell in the smoke cloud if any carbon came out. lots of black soot in tail pipe tip and on back fender.
Poured a small amount out of bottle into road dirt moly grease dirty hands from working on axle bearing and brakes to test, cuts through heavy road cooked grease faster than gasoline, must have naphtha-toulene, heavy duty strong engine cleaner. definitely pay attention to Danger Warning Label.
old plugs removed 5k miles ago had some buildup of carbon under metal ground electrode bend, none on tip or interior insulator. no fiber optic borescope to check combustion chamber.
will note any future results
NOT SCIENTIFIC TESTING.
add on front of can reads like old STP oil treatment add, cures everything including hemmoroids.
less than 2000 m. on Mobil 1. changed and added LC to oil and FP to gas to continue cleaning, Lube Control Inc. products.
Seafoam adv. says safe for O2 sensors.
just took it to the coast for 300m, 22 mpg, 60-80 mph on cruise.
ran as before seafoam, good power on hills, no missing, believe the WOT acceleration is improved.
