Good morning,
I have a 1975 F-250 4X4 w/360 and a 4-speed manual. Would like to put my 400 out of a 1978 F-150 4X4 w/auto in it. I know that I will have to change out the Bell Housing and Fly Wheel. But not sure about the engine towers. I have looked around and seen towers for everything excecpt a 400 for the highboy. Does anyone have a idea as to making this work?
Thanks
Henry
Well I dont think it is a good idea to put a 400 in a truck that has a 360 in it when you can drop a 390 or a 428 in it without changing a single thing and less problems than the classic 400 boat ancher.
A 400 swap would be easy enuf, and they are not boat anchors. Mine holds its own w/the 360-390's The mounts from a 351M or 400 will work, might have to drill new holes in the frame though. If you have access to another FE that would be your "easiest" swap
