Ax,
My truck is missing the piece that bolts to the top of the radiator support that has the hood release in it. It's very easy to get in to the engine bay by crawling under the front of the truck. This is how I've been getting to the hood hinges so far to spray the PB blaster on them. My hood will move up and down about 5 or 6 inches but is currently in the down position and can not be raised all the way up. I'm also not sure what to do about the left door. I cant open it at all to get to the hinges to even spray any thing on it. The right door is the only one I have working so far.

The bracket wouldn't be too bad to fabricate. I think the bracket kit is fairly inexpensive but if you are like me and ruled by the allmighty checkbook then you end up sacrificing alot of labor hours in exchange for tossing bucks around.........
........maybe if I could just convince the kids to quit eating........

My installation of the toyota box was a little unorthodox as I mounted mine ahead of the axle in my 49 due to some exhaust issues with the big Caddy engine I chose.
Since your buddy has a wrecking yard thw whole toyota conversion should be a relativley cheap conversion.

Good luck with it

Bobby

I'm a whole bunch like you in the fact that I will definately be ruled by the check book. I fore see a whole bunch of labor hours on my old truck.

If I'm not mistaken 2 of the hood hinge bolts that attach to the cowl are accessible from inside the cab but the other 2 are in the engine compartment.
