Hunting???

I've been across Texas a few times but it's so big I don't know of all the climates. If you've never hunted before are you sure the old "thuty-thuty" is up to the job where you plan to hunt? The country I saw was mostly open, 7mm Mag. country. It's a shame that so many deer are killed on the road . Is it because most of the land is privately owned and don't allow hunting or charge a fee that is beyond the working man? A Marlin 336, .35 was my choice in Pa. where a shot over 100 yards was rare. I know, a zillion hunters killed a gazillion deer with it but I was never a fan of the .30-.30. .............IMO.........

That ol' 30/30 is a great brush gun, but we do take some longer shots here in Texas. My son has used the .280, but has switched to the .300 WSM. I bought my license today (only $6.00 for us old folks).

pheasant hunter from fort dodge iowa.....looking to go deer hunting sometime did it once with a group and i never did get to shoot one but everybody else in group did so i wasted money on a tag..plus i did all the work why the other guys sat...looking for someone to take me and show me the ropes. would anyone be willing to that lives close to me???
