Angry Hoping for some help

I have a 99 F-350 that when I hit a bump in the road it feels like 4x4 is trying to engage its self. This truck has manual locking hubs. Any one have any ideas. This does not happen constantly. The bumps are not big. running over the reflector changing lanes can cause it. When it does happen it sounds like a set of gears that are moving are trying to catch on a set that is stationary. I think it is comming from the transfer case. Any help is greatly appreciated..

Is it noise or more of a vibration?

Read this thread and see if it applys to your situation:

It is a noise. More like a grinding when the truck is moving. If I stop and then go again its fine untill I hit another bump
