I have buckets as well as a center seat that is part of the bench, just happens to be two benches with a fold up console. It works way better for me, as they are way more comfortable. So are you saying that extended cabs fall under the same thing? I agree, to each their own... I wouldn't have the buckets without the center seat, but that's me. In an extended cab, it isn't as much an issue for me....
bucket seats in pickup trucks are just plain wrong
I disagree. Bucket seats have several things going for them.
1. It keeps you where you need to be. . . in front of the steering wheel.
2. They are usually adjustable, so, you don't have to have a 'one size fits none' seating arrangement.
3. Bucket seats keeps your woman right where she belongs - - - on the otherside of the truck - - - so that you can drive.
