I am looking for a good pair of headers for a 351 that are still 50 state legal. And that fit like they are supposed too! Anybody know of a good set or manufacter? Thanks
Bassani are the manufacturer of choice here. I just had a bad experience with them, but it was my fault. Incorrect timing = excessive heat, and glowing headers. Everything bolts up like its supposed to though. EGR fits well, and they even come with a bracket for the emissions tubes. The only thing I would change is the flange. It makes it tough to get the spark plug wire boots in.
I agree with the Bassani's !!! Perfect fit and have never leaked. Out of the 3 Kem suggested JBA's seem to be the most expensive and Bassani and Gibson close in price.
Ford racing get my vote- as that is what i have and it has all the EGR and air hook ups and comes with plugs if you decide to ditch the air pump! $300 for stainless.
I have had the same set of JBA's on three engines. They survived the red hot "glowing header" heat test too (2nd engine, leading to third.) Great headers, worth the $$ in my book.
I ran the Gibson/JBA set up, Gibson actually mad ethe headers for JBA; JBA just marketed them. They are great but make no difference unless you are going to run 3" exhaust in combination. I ran a basani with the gibson/JBA headers and saw nothing, plus I ddint get the throaty sound I was looking for. Once I got the combination right the engine breathed wonderful and sounded like a mustang on steroids.
The Gibson 3" exhaust w/ JBA headers is a good upgrade, especially with the mandrel bent piping. But, that big Gibson muffler has to go! Added a single chamber Flowmaster, much better.
i would not recommend the summit headers to anyone. they are brand Seconds and tend to be flawed and not of good quality giving install and seal issues. with headers you truely get what you pay for
