I was going to put headers on my 351c but was told that the stock exhaust manifolds are good enough and headers will actually decrease performance. Has anyone else heard of this?
Exhaust improvements made a world of difference, even when my 351 Cleveland was stock. I really like the Hooker Super Comps, if they make 'em for your rig.
too big of a primary tube may leave you disappointed, and having to "build-up" the rest of your combo to match the headers. 1 5/8" or 1 3/4" at the most IMO. when i bought my headers i got the BIG ones(1 7/8") and then wished i got the BEST ones. leave the 3" tubes to John Force. moderate sized tubes are extremely efficient and run circles around "race" headers on the street.
