Thought I would pass this article along to you guys, its some good reading about using hydrogen in the V-10.The V-10 looks like a good foundation motor for this fuel source.Anyway for discussion,do you think we V-10 owners will be making modifications in the future to use hydrogen?
I think that they should give it to a Street Rodder they will get the bugs out .
There is one thing that high fuel prices are going to do, and that is bring new technology into the automotive industry and I hope the oil company's aren't part of it. JMO
he turbocharged Ford 6.8-liter V-10 hydrogen engine is a natural fit in power generation applications, due to its minimal vibration and wear on engine and gen-set components.
Thanks Fyrhog for a very interesting article and that statement I pasted above made me puff up with V10 pride. Instead of walking away from this 6.8 V10, Ford is taking into the future with this fuel source. Take Care
unless we can figure out a way to make hydrogen cheaply, it will still be made of; crude oil/natural gas. The stories of filling up with water while your on-board atom cracker converts good old H2O into fuel are still stories, unless you want to drive around in a vehicle the size of a house, that costs 50 million dollars. Ethanol from midwest vegetables/grains, I believe that is the way we should be going. Keep the farmers on their land and let them make a living, lessen our dependence on unfriendlies and the big oil companies (BTW I read a news snippet that big oil is making $300 million dollars a DAY with current gas prices) and burn nice, clean alcohol.
Boy oh boy.....they got along way to go. A supercharged V10 getting 180hp. The engine looks cool with the supercharger mounted on it. There was a article a while ago with a F-350 V10 hydrogen. The biggest problem was the hydrogen fuel cells completely took up every inch of bed space.
