Egr??

Does anybody know if the gizmo that dumps into the 5.4L supercharger on a lightning/harley, is an EGR valve? Its the pipe that comes off of the manifold, and up to the intake before the charger. I am assuming this is an EGR valve, but need to know for sure. Also, does anybody know the state of it when the engine is off?

Does it come from the exhaust manifold? Then it should be the EGR valve.
What problem are you having?

Its not a problem, thanks for the confirmation.

My next question would be.....is the EGR merely for startup, to burn off the unburnt fuel, and second, does it open during normal operation, as this would effect the performance of the supercharger.......shoving more hot air into the engine would mean not as big of a performance gain.

It only opens at part throttle. It sends inert gasses into the intake to actually cool the combustion area and reduce detonation. It does not hurt performance because it only functions at part throttle and closes at idle and WOT. No performance gain from unhooking it.
