I am swapping in a 460 into my 78 F150 4x4 and would like to have headers for it, but I can't remember who makes them. If someone could help me out that would be great.
L&L makes them, available through www.broncograveyard.com. You can also get tri-y headers from Stan's Headers (run a google search, they're in WA state). Btw, I got the L&L fenderwell exit headers and love them. You get all that junk out from between the frame and it frees up a lot of space to make working on the truck far easier. It does require moving brake lines and trimming a bit off the inner fenders.
I know this topic has been beat to death probably. Ive been gathering all kinds of info about a efi 460 swap into my 79 halfton 4x4, and was wondering if i HAVE to use swap headers to start with. I kinda wanted to get everything fitted up and running, then over winter splurge for the fender headers and some performance crap... I know that when i put the 351w into my mustang i had no choice but to use swap headers because the motor didnt physically fit, but dont know if that is the case we have here.
thanks
Brian
You dont have to have headers truck exhoust manifolds will work. Infact Im doing the same thing and the headers you can buy for thease trucks with a 460 conversion wont work they will bolt up but they wont seal up. The EFI heads have the same spacing as the older heads but the port is diffrent and wont seal at the top. I bought some used L&L,s and had some EFI flanges cut and plan on changing flanges.

I had the same Problem when i did my 460 into my 79 F-150 4x4, i am using the stockmanifolds till i decide it is worth it to spend the $500 some dollars for the L&L headers
