Mercon SP
Were is everyone getting there Mercon SP transmission fluid??? It's time to change the trans fluid so I need to find were to buy. Also were do you get the internal filter??? Thanks for the info.

Motown, The internal filter is really just a wire mesh strainer, however ther is an external filter on the passenger side of the radiator, at the bottom. It is the canister type is is a booger to remove, but it will come off.

"The external filter--mounted on the cooler lines near the radiator--needs to be replaced at the service. Ford has no service interval for the internal pickup filter. I think it is a good idea to replace the internal filter at the service intervals as cheap insurance against a failure. There is a second transmission filter screen that is part of the valve body gasket, but it does not need to be replaced unless the transmission is being repaired."

Just did my tranny PM, took 10.5 qts. I paid $3.85 per, and about $10 for the external filter. I dropped the pan, and removed the internal filter for inspection, everything was as clean as a whistle. I think you need a 28mm socket for the external filter, it's stamped on the bottom of the filter housing.
