they work for me, but then I'm easy to please, as long as they don't fall... they are built like any other jack stand I have.

3 ton is the way to go, I've been using them for years.

I have the "big red" (brand) stands, from Northern tool. 6 ton stands are very sturdy ( put my 'o3 F-350 PSD on em) and the were very cheap, 35 per pair I believe. Just my $.02

I have a couple pair of chrome stands purchased from Sam's Club - 6ton, I believe. Heavy and they were relatively cheap ($30 /pr). And have little base plates so they won't cut into asphalt.

The important thing is how high they will extend to. I couldn't use 3 ton stands because they wouldn't even touch my frame.

I use the 6 ton set from Harbor Freight. great lift height, and wide base. feel very safe. Had a Mustang and a Miata on the stands for a couple months each doing engine swap and accident repair (respectively) and was never worried at all.

have a 3ton set of AC Delcos as well (xmas present), but haven't used them but once.. no lift height (in comparison)..

Oh, I bought the HF stands for $18 a pair.
