I've never found a producer for the anodized door trim...come to think of it, I don't think I've found reproductions of the L-shaped trim that goes above the door to cover the edge of the headliner either. Anyway, went to many wrecking yards. Found the long pieces pretty quick, but took forever to find the U-shaped end pieces. Absolutely amazing how many folks drilled extra holes and screwed that trim down to the door.
CS - can't help you directly to find a plater, but when you're looking, the process you want to find is called "bright-dip anodizing". Let me know if you find a local firm that does this...I've got lots to re-anodize.
I don't have a complete set. I only have part of the drivers side. Odd thing is, I know I took them off and they were complete...wonder where the rest of them are
Things like that happen to me all too often. I usually just blame my wife or kids. But the truth is I don't ever know where things go. They usually turn up after I buy new parts or I sell the car or something like that. Thanks anyway! This site has the best people on it.
The aluminum door panel trim pieces under discussion are anodized to create a relatively hard and shiny finish. I had several pieces of side trim and wheel opening molding straightened and re-anodized for my '67 Galaxie. At the time I had to send them to California to have them done but I found out that there is a place in Portland Ore. that provides this service. Check with your local plating firm and they will likely have information for you in your area. It is expensive. An alternative to re-anodizing is to sand the scratches out of them with progressively finer grades of sand paper and then use an agressive polish such as New Finish to put the shine to them. I did this on some Galaxie door trim pieces to satisfactory effect. Steve
I know this is a older thread and that you maybe have found some by now but a set of these appeared on ebay yesterday (8/20). Search for "1966 ford pick up" or "66 ford pick up" I can't remember which one. There are two listings. One for right side and one for left side. Hope this helps and good luck.
Hi there...I been tearing the place apart....I got the top and 'C' pieces, but not the straight bottom pieces....If you are still interested in what I do have, let me know....will come with the clips as well too....Let me know...Sorry for the long reply time....
That's alright CS. I was checking out Rod Doors and they have some really nice door panels that I think that I am going to use. It won't be "restored", but it will be nice. Thanks again.
