Is there some were under the dash or hood where I can pickup a feed for backup lights to feed my relay? It would have been easer if I had run an extra wire from the trans. when I was running wires but everythings closed up now. oops. Thanks.
To wire mine, I came straight off the battery for the power to the lights and used the existing backup light wire for the relay activation circuit. I can't remember the color right now (purple/black?) but it was easy to just tap into it at the back of the truck. This is assuming of course that you want them to come on when you put the truck in reverse.
Some here have recommended using the power in the 7-pin trailer plug if you have it for the lights as well.
Check your manual, I'm 99.9999% sure there's a fuse for just the backup lights. You could easily use a blade tap and get your power there. On my last truck I got it from the back of the truck right by the tail light. I had a good reason to get it from inside the cab this time but I forget why. Don't have to worry about it for a few more months though. Just use the reverse alarm when plowing.
wont the fuse for the back up lights just be hot? its feeding the switch on transmission right.? I was trying to think if there's a feed from that reverse switch that goes up to a relay or somthing for towing. I already wire loomed everthing from the back forward. My relay etc. is right up under the dash. If I could only find a reverse triggered wire under the dash....help!
