Header paint Recomendations

I would like to coat my headers with some kind of paint that dosen't flake off in less then a week. I tried the high temp engine paint. any other ideas?
nothing extreamly expensive since these are only the $150 flowtech long tubes. for a 80 f-150, 4x4, 351w, c6.

I bought some HT silicone paint from summit $7- you have to bake it on but I've had mine just a week and it's flaking already.

In the same section as the engine paint, there should be something called BBQ, or high temp paint. Its about as good as it gets, without buying a ceramic coating you have to bake. It will last longer if you follow the directions exactly on how to cure it.

Dont expect it to look great for years though.

Right now I just have the high temp Barbeque paint on my headers. I got it at Lowes. It works good too! I have had some tuning problems with my engine and at one time the headers were glowing. However, the paint is still on there and hasn't flaked off one bit. On the other hand, a freind of mine just put on a set of headers on his I6 and had painted it with the VHT high temp paint. On his startup, the paint flaked off and looks a mess. Whatever you choose, just make sure you paint the inside of the headers as well, not just the outside, as moisture is typically what kills a set of headers

What do you mean inside? You mean the part that faces the engine on the inside of the tubes and collectors? Not usually much moisture near headers anyway, they tend to heat up pretty good.

Inside the tubes, not just the outside. Paint them inside and out. You probably won't be able to get it all inside, but you should at least attempt it. This is what I did to my Sanderson headers per thier instructions. You would think no moisture, but this is why you want to coat the inside. I had mine off and was looking at some places that got missed and there are areas of rust. So, they will rust... I'm hoping to get mine Jet-Hot coated sometime this winter.
