new 460 long block

Im in the process of saving up for my new motor, have a 89'
f250, and im wondering what year is the best for a 460 that
would go into my truck with a EFI (believe it is) system? And
the motor that will come out is also a 460 so i dont think that
would be an up grade.

Another 89 would be your best bet. It is more important that everything fits.

You need a 460 or the heads from a 460 that had FI because they are different than carbed heads and you also have to stay with a 79 and up motor because they are externaly balanced and the 78 and earier are internaly balanced.

Now your talkin'. Just put a 4.5" crank in there and bore it .030" over and now you have about 545ci. That should do anything you want to do except pass the gas stations.

I'de rebuild it myseft if i had the time and shop to do it in. So im
going opt for a new one (not remanufactured new one)would really like to start fresh on this one. Of course though i do want to
keep my opptions open, and if i can find a accredited shop that'll
do a good job on a rebuild its always a possibility.

I second the rebuild. Your block, if sound can be bored over as much 0.100" before it needs to be sleeved. Just remove all parts, rebuild the bottom end, and put the top end back on. You'll spend 2x - 4x more depending on what engine you buy.

Best regards.
