A club for running, you say?
I never heard of such a thing.
Why, I never even knew enough people really ran to make a club worth while!
I've seen bike clubs, car clubs, and off road clubs, but never a running club.

I believe I will check into this.

psychopath,
I'm in the Air Force and we have a 1.5 mile standard run. When I first started running, I was having alot of trouble. I never really have been a runner before then. It took 2 years of just running, and I can do the 1.5 mile in 12:30. Our unit has pt 3 days a week, and we run 3 miles during pt. After running that for awhile, running the 1.5 mile course is easy for me now. I didn't do anything special, and I'm smoker on top of that. Me personnally, I think it was just a matter of getting my body used to it. The first year the Air Force implemented the 1.5 mile run, my time was 15 minutes. That was about a year and ahalf ago. When I took my test 3 months ago, my time went down to 12:30. So, I think that if you keep doing what you are doing, you will see the diffrence on your next pt test...just my opinon though...

If you want to increase your speed interval training will work the best. You have to be dedicated to this as it is usually hard to keep going to the track by yourself. Hill work will also help in speed. The hard part is to keep the first few workouts under control and not to go all out. Build up to where you want to be over a few weeks. Using interval training you should be able to go from about 7 minute miles to 6 minute miles in a few weeks.
