'68 429 block disadvantages??

I'm looking at buying a 429 short block off a mate. Its numbers are C8VE-B or E.
I understand that means its a 1968 Lincoln engine.
So does anyone know the advantages or disadvantages or differences in these blocks from other years?
Cheers

one minor disadvantage is that the block deck height in 68 was 10.30 inches, .02 inches shorter than blocks made after 71. you'll have to be careful when buying pistons, make sure you get the correct compression ht. for the shorter deck.

check out the united engine and machine web site. they mfg keith black pistons. they have a compression calculator and if you search for 460 hyper pistons they have a note about the shorter deck blocks. cheers, garsten
