3 on the tree

My 1st dent side was a 73 6 cyl 3 OTT (on the tree), and I loved it. But the linkage can get worn (plastic bushings crack) and make it a bear to shift, so keep things lubed, adjusted, and inspected and it will be fine.
Also not a lot of folks can drive a 3OTT, so not a lot of folks will ask to borrow your truck YEA in my book.

My 73 came with the 3 on the tree behind a 360. Yeah , mostly wore out shifting linkage problems . I rebuilt all of that then decided I wanted a 302 with AOD. That's where i am now waiting on the warranty to get my AOD to stop skipping second gear. Fords top loader 3.03 three speed is a good transmission. I still have mine and got the parts to remove the top cover and replace it with a jeep top loader shifter . I may use it for a future project.

This is a picture of the Ford top loader 4 /speed , you can do a 3/speed too. Parts for the 4/speed are not to hard to find , some new. I have seen them on Ebay, 3 / speed is harder to find. Ford made tranys for jeep Wagoneer ,I believe it was 76,77, 78 or longer. log in to a jeep forum or just do a search for "Jeep top loader" . That's how i did when read about it on the H.A.M.B.
I hope this picture shows up so you can see it.
