i want to get rid of my tfi so i went down to a local parts store and bought an 83 distributor and ignition module, does everything plug in or is the coil specific to the duraspark type setup
ok i have found out that the coil and wiring harness are specific to the duraspark II, my problem is that i can't find a doner truck to pull the wires out of can anyone tell me how to wire it in to the existing harness and coil because i just can't seem to figure it out in my haynes manual
There should be some threads on this topic here, try a search on Duraspark. I recall reading many Ford wiring harnesses have connectors for the different systems, that way they didn't need to stock as many different ones.
The full wiring diagrams are too crowded sometimes, or too many variations. There's some more simplified diagrams in there where they discuss and test the duraspark systems. I'm planning a swap to a point system at some point so hopefully I won't need to worry about much of that.
This link has a section on using a module for a chevy and making the vehicle HEI ignition. I have this and it works very well, plus it is cheap and simple!
