ignition actuator
My ignition actuator broke on my 98 f250 SD pickup (work truck).
should I replace the ignition actuator or make it a push start with a ignition toggle switch.

This is what I did
I did this on my 1991 F250 (WORK TRUCK) and it was suppose to be temporary but has turned into a somewhat permanent fix, there's a 2 piece trim collar where the column meets the dash, I removed that and got a pair of needle nose vise grips and clamped them to the flat rod you can see on top of the column and now I use the pliers instead of the key to start the truck I just use the key to lock and unlock the steering wheel, a note though, make sure when you pull the pliers back to start it you only pull them back one click if you pull them 2 clicks this puts it in accessory mode and can drain the battery/batteries, and if you ever put it in the shop or let someone else drive it tape the key in the on position because when they go to start it they will try to use the key and turn it all the way around and it can be a bear to get it back to the right position, I learned this the hard way
