One thing to keep in mind is the need for what ever tire you get to be in the radial variety. It is true that most larger tires will wear quickly due to a softer compond rubber, but alot of the tire companys are now offering the larger sizes in a radial compound. These tires tend to balance better, have a harder compound than their bias ply brothers and tend to last longer. I swear I thought I would never buy another Micky Thompson tire after I went through 3 sets of them on our lifted Expedition years ago. (These were the first tire offered that would work on the 17 inch factory rim and they were the bias ply baja belted Mickeys) They would wear out or have very erratic wear patterns in as little as 3K miles. I have since always tried to stay with a radial tire and they have always performed better than the best made bias ply tire. So to sum up alittle, the 250 has a set of Mickey Thompson Claws in the radial design and as I stated in my earlier post they havn't shown any signs of wear as of yet. But as the miles pass I will keep a close eye on them as I don't want to put out another load of cash on tires anytime in the near future.

2003V10F250 - I hope you have better luck than I did with the Claws. Mine were radials and were only 33 x 12.50 in size mounted on 16 x 10 rims which I don't consider that big of a tire. They were still difficult to balance and like I said wore out in less than 20,000 miles and were chopped up bad. This is with regular rotation which with the Claws can only be front to back on the same side due to being a directional tire. Like stealth1 the truck saw a 150 mile round trip of commuting for awhile with these tires and I think that is what did them in. I would rate them lower than a BFG MT KO in both on and off road performance. Like I said I hope you have better luck than I did, but I could not recommend this tire for stealth1's use after my experiences with them.

My old man has the Terra Grapplers on his truck- 285-75 R16.

They are a good looking tire but they are real hard, & real noisey.
If that was my truck I would get rid of them because of the headached you get from the noise.

In my personal opinion mud tires are not designed for extensive pavement miles like you drive everyday. Sorry.

I know they wear out fast with those miles but I like the aggressive look of M/T's. If I get 30-35k I'll be happy. I just want them to ride, balance and sound good all the way thru. If they start to crap out at 15k would really blow. The BFG's did great until 35k or so and would be a great choice again but i want a different look this time. I would have got 45k out of the BFG's if not for the bad chop. With the miles I drive I'll be buying again in a 18 months or so but I've accepted that fate. Nittos, Toyo's and Claws so far in that order is where I'm at today. Purchase date is next week so I better make up my mind.. Thanks for the replies..

i have over 45000miles in 2 years on my BFG MT's and have had great wear considering the amount of miles on them, if your doing that much distance, why not get an AT tire instead of beating on MT's? just a thought.

My guess would be this is why he does not want to get an AT. I don't get it, but I guess I have never bought tires for "the look."

I assume thats why all tires don't look the same. Maybe to appeal to different likes or tastes. If I wanted an all terrian that's what I would buy. As stated I was just looking for info on an aggressive MT that lasted and people had good luck with. I spent 35k on my truck because of the look why not tires too?

stealth1 - What is it that you don't like about the Trxus MT tire? I run those on my Range Rover which is a DD and off road rig. I have been very happy with them and they seem to wear really well. They are a much better tire than the radial Baja Claw from my experiences with both tires. If I was you I would probably still go with either the Toyo or Nitto, but I was curious as to why in your first post you said no to the Trxus.

If you want to get a lot of miles out of a mud tire go with the Goodyear MT/Rs. I've seen a set last 55k on an F-150 (Those tires were mine for the 1st 10k). So you ought to get 35-40k out of a front heavy Super Duty. They don't balance worth a damn though. I run a Toyo A/T these days on my SD.

The set I bought brought me much pain. Had several of them replaced a couple times due to being out of round and couldn't balance right. They did not ride well at all and they wore funny to fast. I have talked to people that love'em and have no problems. It may just be an isolated incident with mine but the whole hassel the first time makes me leary of dealing with them again. A buddy of mine has them on his 04 supercrew and raves about them. I must say his rides great and has quite a few miles on them now. Just my personnel opinion..

stealth1 - That is understandable. The Trxus MT tire seems to have a quality issue much worse than other Interco tires. Generally speaking people either have had good luck with them or a bad experience like you.

I personally like the "looks" of the Toyo MT tire and have for the most part read really good reviews on them that they would be my choice for the next set of tires. Whatever you decide let us know what you get and why.
