Clutch Advice, Please
The only way to know if you have a 10 or 11" is to take it out and check, then have the flywheel resurfaced and buy the right size clutch. hopefully you can get the flywheen back the next day and install the clutch.
If you fing a good deal on a new clutch disk/pressure plate/flywheel all together then it doesnt matter what size was in there.
1) You can grind down the threads on a bolt not quite small enough to fit inside
the pilot bushing. Grind the threads until the bolt just fits inside the hole. Fill
the cavity behind the pilot bushing with grease, then insert the bolt. A good hit
with a hammer will pop the pilot bushing right out (the first time I did this
it took two hits with the hammer). Hydraulic pressure is nice?

Then all it took was a big mallet to get a new one in basically (after cleaning
out the grease so I don't make a mess). I still have that bolt and may be
using it again soon. (Cost: at most a couple bucks if you don't already have
a bolt)
2) On more than a couple occasions I have dropped a transmission from a
truck with an engine hoist. I just push the boom of the hoist into the cab
and attach a lift chain to the top of the transmission (after trans cover removed). Then after the chain slack is taken up, the driveshaft dropped, and the transmission crossmember removed, the tranmission is unbolted and backed off then dropped to the ground. Then just unhook and slide the trans out of the way..
I have a transmission jack adapter for a regular jack, but it doesn't fit
my regular jack well. I used an engine hoist one time when I had to replace
clutch fork pivot hardware, then again for replacing clutches.
pretty heavy. I didn't even consider that the transmission mentioned in this
thread might be lighter and not have a removable cab floor cover.
