1967 trans problem

I been running around looking for a trans filter and trans pan gasket for my car.1967 ford galaxie 500 with the 390.Been to 5 diferant auto parts stores no one can match up what i have.Seems only thing out there that anyone has parts for is the c-4,c6 or fmx But mine is none of these.
On the side of my trans which i have pulled. The numbers are
C5MP 7006 A 28 DIP On one side the other side 7E22 29 and numbers going around in a small circle are 57913.
Everything leads me to belive that its a c-5 from the first numbers C5MP ?

But none of the parts store show anything for a C-5 for that year.I know its the original trans in there as i called my aunt who was the only owner of it.

Now i did hours of searching via-intranet and came up with this SITE.
If that link dosnt work heres the addy to look .

autotran.us/fmABpg21.htm

you have to put the www. there lol

The mx on the site there shows exactly my trans and filter. The problem is no one has any mx parts they only carry C4,C6, and FMX.So what im thinking is with the numbers on the side of my trans C5MP .maybe the MX is a C5?

Can someone please help a confused person here on this.

I have your the same transmission...You will have a hard time finding people that know what your trans is in addition to finding parts for it. Some will tell you you have a C4 and others and FMX. Part of the problem is that most people go to the C6 when they have trouble with the MX-HD AKA Cruise-O-Matic (Medium cast iron case) . I have been look for rebuilt parts for a long time and have mostly given up. Even if i could find all the parts i need i worry that nobody would know how to do the rebuild. It is a good transmission aside from that stupid water cooling system it has. I am going to go the c6 route but i worry about Hwy rpms. The MX allowed me to go 90 MPH with a 4.11 rear end without the engine exploding. I doubt the C6 will even come close to that.

Final ratio in an FMX,C4,MX or C6 is all the same. One or the other will not affect engine RPM's.
A 67 w/390 engine should have a medium sized case.

That is good news. What about the large HP loss that every talks about with the c6? Will that effect MPG? Do you know what kind of Torque converter is best and F250?

The large HP loss with the C6 is way overblown. All auto trans soak up some power. The article in question is several years old and talks of the merits of built TH 350s vs. TH 400's, C6's etc. IF you are racing it makes a diff in first gear. Otherwise, don't worry about it.
