Mercury M-350 for sale

Saw this 1953 Mercury M350 for sale on eBay, no motor but it looks pretty good. Located in North Dakota. It looks like it is an express bed but it is a dump bed. There is a PTO lever on the dash and the tailgate has a grain chute. I could be wrong on that since it is not mentioned in the eBay ad.

I have never seen the 50th anniversary horn button on a Merc before! Only $610 with 10 bids.

Pembina is just a hop, skip and a jump from my sister's house. I think I could talk them into storing it briefly until you could retrieve it. Maybe.

Joe, if it is near your sister's house then you should buy it. You need to have a Triple Economy truck in addition to your Bonus Built truck!

Well, of course, I would buy it but it's missing the battery...

I don't plan to buy another truck until I'm through with this one. And have a place to put it. And a place to work on it. And the funds to get started on it. There, that should be enough...

There are some good-sized chunks of bondo that are lifting. I suspect it isn't "rust free".

Chunks of bondo falling off yes but I suspect that it`s from faulty dent repair, someone was too lazy to bump the dents out before attacking with the bondo. The usual rust places like above the head lights look ok, here in Sk there`s always big holes there.

Interesting, the wheels are not widow makers. They are locking ring / side ring style. The Express model in '53 came with 17" widow makers while the DRW version had lock ring 16s or widow maker 17s. I've found no record anywhere of 16" widow makers, so either the bed was changed or the wheels were changed. Stu

I sent the owner a question about it having a dump bed. He said yes it does. Don't know why he didn't have that in the description. That would be cool to have, an express bed that dumps.

This same guy now has a Ford F-350 Express with a dump bed for sale.

Here is the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/111894268628?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
And he has a picture of the Mercury F350 showing how the dump bed works.

These dumps are not an option (at least not factory) and not especially rare. I bought a 1952 F3 a couple years ago with a hoist. Though it is a huge pet peeve of mine to read J@#k@$$es use terms like "farmer fix" or "farmer mod", these hoists were mods farmers made. Usually they would go to the local blacksmith who happened to sell hoist outfits or cut down a unit from an older truck themselves and mount it under the box. On many farms of yesteryear, three quarter or one ton trucks wore many hats, one of which was to take grain to town and bring home livestock feed.
