Fired her up today

Well boys i was gone for a week in florida, before school starts.

So my truck has been sitting in the garage for about a week and a half.

I got home last night at 9 and i went in and pumped the throttle a couple times, one short crank, next time was,
cran....VROOOM, then settled down to 550rpm and idled like a baby. I couldn't be more pleased.

The only thing i've noticed was under the front end there was a light puddle of clear oil., i think it's power steering fluid cause the power steering pump is damp on the bottom, and the engine wouldn't leak with all the oil in the pan.

But i was pleased.

Yes it would of. that sucks.

Yup, we were on I75 all the way to Chatanooga caught I24 right to our house off exit 19.

Some nice trucks rolling down the road these days. Some nice we bare all advertisements to look at.

My parents are slow going on the road. I wanted to leave at like 5 drive right there, left at 8 19 miles later we were taking a bathroom break for my mom, I didn't go for 2 days. so i had the right to make fun of them.

i know the feeling, me and mrs, and my two kids (age 5 and 2) are driving to NJ later this week.

only way I can mentally handle it is to leave at 5pm, so the kids nod out in three hours, than I'll drive until 10am or so, and we get out to walk about etc.

worst part is we are driving my wifes saturn. ugh. I'd rather take my diesel, but between the top speed of 70-75 and the noise factor/lack of cruise control/ac/etc
I don't think they could handle it. Plus being an extended cab and not a crew cab, the kids are cramped in their kiddie seats.

woo that's gotta be rough.

My old Ford tops out at 67 or so, i've had her up to 80 once but too far into the redline for me.

I prefer to travel durring the day, but with kids your smart doing it like that.

I traveled many miles in the back of an F350 supercab 90 model when i was young.

This little red headed kid won't be driving a minvan.

I let a 1986 diesel Topaz sit for six months one time during a Deployment to the Indian Ocean. The battery was even still charged when I went to start it. I let the glow plugs warm up and it fired right up.

Best car I ever had.

Heh, Lakeland Fl is somewhere i plan on never going back. There is absolutely NOTHING there. Guess its nice if you just wanted to relax, visit an old relative, or find somewhere to die peacefully. No offense to anyone tho. And its always nice when your vehicle sits for a while and still fires right up and runs like a champ. My '78 sat for a little over 2 weeks and didn't do anything different than if it had sat for an hour.

Yea it feels good.

It sat for 10 years, when i bought it i changed the oil, put in a fresh battery, and vroom and drove it 60 miles home. on a learners permit and no one in the seat next to me, at that time the wiring had gotten messed up so no lights either.

78 custom, the area I live is worse than lakeland FL.
thats like the big city man!!!

perfect for me tho.... I own a small farm/greenhouse operation and I do contracting for ummm 3-4 days a month. It's a good life if you don't mind giving up a few modern convienances.

ohh and the wife wanted to rent a minivan for this trip, but hell, it'd be 700+ dollars for the trip, not to mention gas.
least the saturn gets like 35-40 mpg at cruising speed, and we bought one of those dvd players with two screen, one for each kid.

I learned traveling at night along time ago. Doing long runs with truck/trailer, it keeps the tires/engine etc cooler, not to mention you get better milage with a diesel if the temps are 65 instead of 95.

plus 3am, only truckers on the road, and for the most part they know how to drive really well.

i agree with driving at night.

It seems to make the time go by faster also. The air is cool, vehicle always runs well, and the roads are nice and clear.

Usually you can stay with a small pack of cars and go 10 over the speed limit (I DONT RECOMEND THIS! VERY DANGEROUS AAAAAH) without having to worry much about gettnig a speeding ticket.

Lakeland = Free place to stay (In=laws House) when on vacation.
Last time we left the kids there and went on a Cruise (10th Anniversary)

I never keep my vehicles long enuf to let them sit without running.
Glad they all fire up for you.
I am always happy when things work as opposed to trying to do PD on problems.

BTW....My Minivan (29 Mpg and TV) compared to F150 (10Mpg and bumpy)
I just cruise in it at about 75 mph.

I pick the minivan for a 26 hour road trip.
